Directions to Make a No-Sew Fish Extender
FE GIFT EXCHANGE INFORMATION FOR THIS CRUISE
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!
4/20/10 Fish Extender program is now officially closed! We have 4 groups with 10 participating families in each group.
NOTE FROM KAREN (jocjarmom)
Hi all,
At Heather’s request, I am taking over as FE coordinator. That’s right, just call me the Queen of the Fish Extenders!!!!! (Okay, you don’t really have to call me Queen. “Her Majesty” will suffice!)
After taking a poll on Facebook, it seems most people prefer to stuff FEs for a smaller number of cabins, as opposed to doing all cabins. This will enable people to minimize the amount of space and weight in luggage used by their FE gifts, both going and coming.
Therefore, the FE gift exchange will be run as follows:
For the immediate future, we’ll have 3 groups. Each family will be put into a group with another 8 families. Each night, one family will be responsible for stuffing the Fish Extenders for all other 8 families in their group. Therefore, on 8 nights of the cruise, you can expect to find goodies in your FE!
Right now, I have 25 family groups (and I will post the list on both FB and Disboards) signed up. If you have not yet signed up and would like to, please let me know ASAP. The deadline for signing up will be April 26, 2010.
Why do the groups only have 9 families when we are on a 10-night cruise?
On the final night of the cruise, most families will be busy getting packed, giving out crew member tips, buying photos and souvenirs, and saying good-bye to new friends. It might be asking a lot to have one family be responsible for stuffing on that last day or night.
Having said that, this policy is subject to change. If we’ve got 30 families on April 26, then we’ll add one family to each of the 3 groups. The final family could stuff on the morning of that final sea day, instead of doing it at night.
How do I know when it’s our day to stuff?
Far in advance of the cruise, I will send you a list of the families in your group with the daily assignments, along with names & ages of children. Once I have a complete list of cabin numbers, I will send you a PM, providing the final info. It will be your responsibility to print your list to ensure you know which cabins are in your group. If you have any preferences as to which night works better for you, please email me and I will try to accommodate you.
Our family will be staying in more than one cabin.
Regardless of how many cabins your family will be occupying, you will still be considered one family. As long as there is a FE hanging from the fish on one of those cabins, everything will be great!
Once groups have been formed, what if more people want to sign up for FE during the next few months?
I will maintain a “waiting list” and hope we can get enough families together to create a 4th group! However, we will close the program on April 26. To be fair, we will not add people at the last minute, ensuring participants do not have to run around to buy extra gifts.
I have a GTY cabin and don’t know my cabin number yet.
Please contact me ([email protected] or on my Facebook account) as soon as you receive your cabin number, so I can add it to the list. I promise to ensure confidentiality of your cabin, and only those in your group will be given your cabin number.
I would also like to ask that you give me (a) your cabin number, and (b) the names and ages of your children. Some people may be planning to give personalized gifts!!!
How do I ensure that my special FE gift is not a duplication of what somebody else is giving?
Sinnika (Taina Po) and her family have opted not to participate in the FE program during this cruise. However, she has graciously agreed to be the “go-to-girl” for gifts… if you have not already done so, please send her a message to let her know what you’re planning. Taina’s email is [email protected]. Not only will she tell you whether somebody else was planning to bring the same gift, but she is also full of terrific suggestions!
Let the fun begin!
